Emilio Monreal
Percussion Director
Emilio Monreal is the Director of Percussion at Lone Star High School / LSHS cluster in Frisco, Texas. Emilio began his collegiate studies in music education at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi, where he completed his Bachelor’s in Music Education under the tutelage of Dr. Matthew McClung. After completion of his undergraduate studies, he pursued his Master’s Degree in Music Performance at Michigan State University, where he studied under the direction of Professor Gwendolyn Dease and Dr. Jon Weber. While studying at MSU, Emilio was responsible for coaching several percussion ensembles, teaching undergraduate and non-major percussion lessons, teaching percussion methods, and coordinating guest artist visits. Emilio also had the privilege of performing with the Michigan State University Wind Symphony at the 2017 CBDNA conference.
In 2015, Emilio won the University of Texas at Brownsville international Marimba Competition. He was also a featured guest artist for the Corpus Christi Flam Jamm in 2018. Emilio regularly presents master classes for all age groups throughout Texas in hopes that he can inspire and ignite the passion of young musicians.
Emilio began his marching career in the quadline at Mystikal Drum and Bugle Corps in 2009. He went on to march Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010 for their founding year. Emilio aged out in 2011 with the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps. Emilio is currently an active performer and educator with Innovative Percussion
